SHENZHEN, China, Sept 21, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - South Korea's An Se-young secured her second straight China Masters badminton title on Sunday, the Olympic champion cruising to victory in a superb performance against home hero Han Yue.

The 23-year-old top seed needed just 33 minutes to overpower third seed Han in a 21-11, 21-3 triumph in China's southern city of Shenzhen.

An ecstatic An turned to face the crowd, shouting and clenching her fists, when Han's final shot failed to clear the net.

The dazzling display was even more dominant than An's victory at last year's China Masters, three months after she claimed the women's badminton Olympic gold medal in Paris.

In the men's final, local Chinese star Weng Hongyang defeated Lin Chun-yi of Taiwan in straight games 21-11, 21-15.

The 49-minute final between the two unseeded players saw Lin attempt a comeback in the second game, at one point holding a narrow lead of 12-10 before falling to a late surge by Weng.

Next month's badminton highlights include the Denmark Open and French Open as top players look towards the BWF World Tour Finals in December.
