CHANDPUR, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) - Faridganj upazila beat Matlab Dakhin upazila by 2-1 goals in the opening match of the 21st Deputy Commissioner Gold Cup Football tournament that began in Chandpur district today (Monday).
Chandpur District Sports Association convener and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Mohsin Uddin formally inaugurated the tournament as chief guest by releasing balloons.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Md. Ershad Uddin presided over the opening programme.
District Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Rakib, Municipal Administrator Md. Golam Zakaria, District BNP general secretary Adv. Salim Ullah Selim, district Jamaat secretary Adv. Md. Shahjahan Mia, district Gono Odhikar Parishad president Kazi Russell, district National Citizens Party’s chief coordinator Md. Mahbub Alam, district administration officials and other concerned persons were present at the time.
A total of eight teams from eight upazilas of the district are taking part in the tournament.
