Rahmat likely to miss third ODI against Bangladesh

DHAKA, Oct 12, 2025 (BSS)- Afghanistan batter Rahmat Shah is unlikely to play 
third ODI against Bangladesh due to a calf injury.

He sustained the injury during the second game but returned to the crease in 
a heroic attempt when Afghanistan lost nine wickets. He could stand at the 
crease for just one ball before Afghanistan were bowled out for 190.

However, still his side won the game by 81 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 
lead against Bangladesh.

His side is now eying a series whitewash to take the revenge of being swept 
in the T20 series earlier. 

"He (Rahmat) unfortunately succumbed to his injury so he is out now. We will 
do all the right things in terms of imaging and stuff tomorrow. I think he is 
going to be out for some time," Afghanistan physio Nirmalan Thanabalasingam 
said.

Rahmat recently became the first Afghan batsman to score 4,000 ODI runs and 
had made a crucial half-century in the first match.

The third ODI is on Tuesday at Abu Dhabi,the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
