DHAKA, Oct 12, 2025 (BSS)- Afghanistan batter Rahmat Shah is unlikely to play
third ODI against Bangladesh due to a calf injury.

He sustained the injury during the second game but returned to the crease in
a heroic attempt when Afghanistan lost nine wickets. He could stand at the
crease for just one ball before Afghanistan were bowled out for 190.

However, still his side won the game by 81 runs to take an unassailable 2-0
lead against Bangladesh.

His side is now eying a series whitewash to take the revenge of being swept
in the T20 series earlier.

"He (Rahmat) unfortunately succumbed to his injury so he is out now. We will
do all the right things in terms of imaging and stuff tomorrow. I think he is
going to be out for some time," Afghanistan physio Nirmalan Thanabalasingam
said.

Rahmat recently became the first Afghan batsman to score 4,000 ODI runs and
had made a crucial half-century in the first match.

The third ODI is on Tuesday at Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
