First CAS Int'l Squash concludes

DHAKA, Jan 6, 2026 (BSS) - The first CAS International Squash 2026, one of the 
largest tournaments in the subcontinent, concluded at the Army Squash Complex 
in Dhaka Cantonment today (Tuesday).

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman was the chief guest in the prize 
distribution ceremony, presided by Bangladesh Squash Racket Federation (BSRF) 
President Major General Hasan-Uz Zaman.

Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Bangladesh Army Lieutenant General 
Mizanur Rahman Shamim was present there as special guest.

Adel Jassem Al-Ghalib, one of the vice presidents of the Asian Squash 
Federation, senior military officials, BSRF general secretary Brig. Gen. 
(retd.) GM quamrul Islam and members of the BSRF executive committee, 
Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) vice president Major Imroz Ahmed and its 
Secretary General Jubaidur Rahman Rana were also present, among others, in 
the ceremony.

After a thrilling and competitive final on the last day, Yasin Sodiof of 
Egypt, ranked 85th in the world, beat his Malaysia rival Duncan Lee, ranked 
95th, in the final and emerged champion in the tournament.
 
Bangladesh's young talent BKSP's Md. Aminul Islam was given the best 
Bangladeshi player award.

The Army Chief Waker-Uz-Zaman expressed his confidence and satisfaction over 
the activities of the BSRF and thanked the organizers for successfully 
organising an international squash competition with world-class professional 
players from nine countries.

He also assured full cooperation on behalf of the Army and BOA in the 
development of squash in Bangladesh.

The five-day tournament featured the participation of 24 world-ranked 
professional squash players from nine countries proves that squash has not 
only been reborn in Bangladesh, but Bangladesh is also becoming known to the 
world through squash.
