DHAKA, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - England allrounder Chris Woakes said he will 
cherish hitting a six off the last ball to win Sylhet Titans a knockout game 
in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) forever.

Woakes' dramatic six sealed a three-wicket victory against Rangpur Riders, 
keeping Sylhet Titans' hopes of reaching the BPL final alive.

"I have never hit a six off the last ball before. To do it in my first game 
for Sylhet - that's something I'll remember forever," Woakes said after the 
match. 

"Whenever you win a game of cricket with a six off the last ball, it's 
exciting. I've been in that situation before but couldn't finish it, so to 
get one over the line now is special," Woakes further said, adding that he 
previously was in such position but could never hit six to win the game.

"I've been in that moment before where you have to try and hit for six and 
haven't been able to do it. So to get one over the line is something I'll 
remember. And obviously, with it being my first match in BPL as well for this 
team, it makes it a little bit more special."

Woakes' heroics came after Syed Khaled Ahmed's career-best 4-15 had 
restricted Rangpur Riders to just 111-9, giving Sylhet a small target to 
chase. Rangpur, however, fought hard, leaving Sylhet needing nine runs from 
the final six balls. Fahim Ashraf conceded just two runs and dismissed Moeen 
Ali in the first four deliveries. Khaled's single off the fifth ball brought 
Woakes to the crease, and he smashed a six over extra cover to snatch 
victory.
 
"I knew as soon as I hit it that it was six. It was a tricky pitch, and the 
partnership between the captain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Sam Billings was 
really important for us. I was a bit lucky with the last ball, but it worked 
out," Woakes said.

He added that he visualized the delivery from a bowler's perspective.

"As a bowler, you think about where you would bowl. If you need six to win, a 
wide yorker is tough to hit. He bowled slower balls and cutters, so I was 
expecting a cutter, and then when pace came, I just reacted," Woakes said.
