44th National Cricket Championship begins in Khulna

KHULNA, Feb 22, 2026 (BSS) - The 44th National Cricket Championship began this morning at the Khulna District Stadium, with Bagerhat taking on Meherpur in the opening match.

The Khulna District Sports Association organised the tournament under the management of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

BCB Director and Khulna District Sports Association member Md Zulfikar Ali Khan attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.

Among others, Khulna District Sports Association members Shah Asif Hossain Rinku, Zakir Hossain Ripon, M Saiful Islam and Shahnaz Khatun were present as special guests.

Molla Khairul Islam, a member of the Khulna District Sports Association and chairman of the Senior Division Cricket League Committee, presided over the function.

Addressing the ceremony, the guests expressed hope that the national-level competition would conclude successfully, saying such initiatives play a vital role in the development of cricket in the country.

They also extended their best wishes to the participating teams and players.
