Butler happy over team's training progress

DHAKA, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh women's national football team's head coach Peter Butler has expressed his strong satisfaction over the team's progress during the training camp in Sydney ahead of the AFC Women's Asian Cup.

He highlighted the importance of maintaining a positive mindset as the squad works to "catch up" on preparations, according to a message received here from Bangladesh Football Federation this afternoon.

"I can't fault the players' efforts; they've shown an incredible work rate and an honest attitude in a fantastic training environment. We're using this time to experiment with different tactical formations and foster healthy competition for places. I'm looking forward to seeing that hard work translates into tomorrow's match," Butler stated.

He further praised the quality of the training facilities and the nutritional support provided to the athletes, noting that the environment has been instrumental in sustaining high performance standards.

Meanwhile Bangladesh women's national football team successfully completed their fourth training session this morning at Valentine Sports Park maintaining the same scheduled time as part of their ongoing preparations in Sydney.

Under a gloomy sky with no sun, the Tigresses began the session with a focused six-minute running phase before progressing into structured drills and high-intensity possession games. The tempo remained sharp throughout, reflecting the squad's growing cohesion and competitive edge as they build momentum ahead of their upcoming fixtures.

The coaching staffs emphasis on tactical adaptability and sharp ball circulation, with players demonstrating discipline and clarity in execution.

The session concluded with recovery protocols, including ice baths to support physical regeneration. No gym session was scheduled on the day, allowing the squad to balance workload and recovery effectively. 

The team will play against Western Sydney Wanderers FC (A- League Club in Sydney in a closed-door friendly match tomorrow (Wednesday), providing a valuable competitive test as preparations continue.
