DHAKA, March 28, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque today (Saturday) has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Dilara Hafiz, wife of Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram.
Dilara Hafiz was a former Director General of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education and former principal of Eden Women's College.
In a condolence message, the State Minister said:, “Dilara Hafiz was a dedicated educationist. Her contribution to the expansion of the country's education sector and administrative efficiency will be remembered forever. In her death, the country has lost a worthy guardian.”
Reminiscing about the JS speaker Major (retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Aminul said: “Respected Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, is not only a successful politician and guardian of the parliament, he was a legend in the football field of our country.”
He also captained the Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club, Dhaka University and combined University teams in various competitions. He was the president of the Bangladesh Football Federation. As his wife, Dilara Hafiz has given him courage and inspiration through every ups and downs. I extend my deepest condolences to their family at this sad time.
The State Minister for Sports also prayed eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
