FIDE, women's commission officials call on Sports State Minister

DHAKA, June 15, 2026 – A delegation from the International Chess Federation (FIDE) paid a courtesy call on Youth and Sports State Minister Md. Aminul Haque at the National Sports Council on Monday, said a press release.

The delegation included - Syed Sujauddin Ahmed, president of the Bangladesh Chess Federation, Woman Grandmaster Dana Reizniece, Deputy chair woman of the FIDE management board, Anastasia Sorokina, chairman of the FIDE women’s commission, Monalisa Kambo, member of the FIDE women’s commission and Magnus Wolfe, founder and director of Movement for Refugees along with Barko, who are currently visiting Dhaka.

During the meeting, the participants held productive discussions on various issues related to the development of chess in Bangladesh. The State Minister assured the delegation of the government's full support and cooperation for the advancement of the sport.

The FIDE officials noted that Bangladesh possesses a large pool of talented chess players and expressed their strong commitment to contributing to the continued development and promotion of chess in the country through the support and initiatives of the International Chess Federation.
