DHAKA, Sept 1, 2025 (BSS) - Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin today said that
trade facilitation would be ensured through identifying unnecessary trade-
related regulations and through reviewing trade governing rules and
regulations.
Bashir made these remarks while presiding over the ninth meeting of the
National Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC), organised by the Ministry of
Commerce, held today at the BIAM Foundation Multipurpose Hall in the capital.
He said, "Through trade facilitation, we'll establish justice and thus create
a level-playing field, which will increase both the volume of our trade and
our economic capacity."
The Adviser further said, "We want an efficient trade regime, through which
significant development will take place in our national economy and will also
serve as a major platform for equitable distribution of resources."
Citing a press release of the Commerce Ministry, Bashir said the government
certainly wants to reduce tax evasion alongside fostering efficiency.
"Mentioning that automation in customs operations is underway," he said,
adding that this would make imports and exports easier.
The meeting was attended by National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Md Abdur
Rahman Khan; Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman; Bangladesh Trade and Tariff
Commission Chairman Dr. Moinul Khan; Executive Chairman of the National
Skills Development Authority Dr. Nazneen Kawsar; FBCCI Administrator Md.
Hafizur Rahman; EPB Vice-Chairman Md. Abdur Rahim Khan; Commerce Ministry
Additional Secretary (FTA) Ayesha Akter along with other committee members.
