CPA re-fixes tariffs on services

DHAKA, Sept 15, 2025 (BSS) - The Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) has re-fixed charges (tariffs) for its various services after almost 40 years.

CPA Secretary Md Omar Faruk today confirmed this matter saying the newly imposed tariff has come into effect from today. 

To this end, the port authority issued a notification on Sunday in line with the approval from the Ministry of Finance on July 24.  

According to the notification, the port authority charges tariffs on a total of 52 sectors. Of these sectors, the authority has approved new tariffs for 23 sectors.

Currently, the port authority charges an average of Tk 11,849 per twenty-foot equivalent unit. Under the new rates, an additional Tk 4,395 per container will be levied, bringing the average charge to Tk 16,243.

Separate charges are also levied for using container ships, which vary depending on the type of container. Fees for imported containers will increase by Tk 5,720, while export containers will see a rise of Tk 3,045.
