South Asia Trade Fair 2025 begins in Dhaka on Sep 18

DHAKA, Sept 16, 2025 (BSS) - The four-day South Asia Trade Fair 2025 is set to begin in the capital on September 18, with the participation of firms of SAARC member countries. 

The fair will showcase a wide range of products including ready-made garments and textiles, gems and jewelry, cosmetics, leather goods, home appliances and kitchenware, processed food, and electronics. 

More than a hundred companies from South Asian countries will participate with their products and services.

The event will be organized by the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), with support from the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).
 
The fair will be inaugurated by Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin on September 18 at 11:00 am at the International Convention City, Bashundhara in the capital.

Zulfiqar Ali Bhatt, Secretary General of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, presented the details about the fair at a press conference held at the FBCCI office in the capital's Motijheel area.

He said this fair will include B2B matchmaking sessions, business networking sessions and other programs that will help build trust among entrepreneurs from SAARC countries and create opportunities for knowledge-sharing in business and trade. 

"This will play a vital role in promoting regional trade," added Bhat.

He further mentioned although there is considerable potential for regional trade expansion, but South Asian countries are still lagging behind in this regard. 

This fair will enhance connectivity among the countries, which is very crucial. 

Bhatt also informed that more than a hundred companies from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan will be participating in this year's fair.

At the event, Md. Alamgir, Secretary General of FBCCI, highlighted the objectives and purpose behind the formation of the SAARC Chamber. 

He said that through this fair, the capacity and trade potentials of South Asian countries in various sectors-including textiles, pharmaceuticals, processed food and agriculture, and electronics will be reflected. 

In addition, the traditions and cultural features of SAARC member countries will also be showcased.
