KHULNA, Sept 16, 2025 (BSS) - Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Md. Firoz Sarkar today distributed waste bins among local traders and instructed concerned officials to ensure daily waste collection by vans.

He also warned that punitive action would be taken if the supplied bins were misused or left idle.

"If we can build a pollution-free, beautiful environment, the number of visitors will increase, and at the same time, local businesses and trawler operators will benefit economically," said the KCC Administrator while inaugurating a public awareness and cleanliness campaign against plastic pollution at the city's No. 7 Ghat area.

Khulna City Corporation and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) jointly organized the campaign under the Sustainable Capacity Building to Reduce Irreversible Pollution (SCiP Plastic Project).

KUET Prof. Dr. Kazi Hamidul Bari presided over the event. KCC officials, among others, attended the event.
