10 essentials goods allowed to import ahead of Ramadan

DHAKA, Nov 12, 2025 (BSS) - Business entities will now be able to import ten essential goods on deferred payment basis as the central bank has announced such facilities aiming to keep supply of these commodities smooth during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

These commodities are rice, wheat, onion, pulse, edible oil, sugar, chickpea, pea, spices and dates.

“In order to maintain the price at reasonable level and smooth supply of necessary food items during the holy month of Ramadan, it has been decided to allow commercial import of rice, wheat, onion, pulse, edible oil, sugar, chickpea, pea, spices and dates on usance terms on upto 90 days under supplier’s/buyer’s credit,” said a BB circular issued today.

Other relevant instructions shall remain unchanged. Please bring the contents of the circular, effective till March 31, 2026, to the notice of your relevant clientele, the circular added.
