DHAKA, April 21, 2026 (BSS) - The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today recommended policy approval to slash the international open tender window for refined fuel oil imports, compressing the bid preparation and submission period from 42 days to just 10 days.

The recommendation came from the 11th meeting of the CCEA in this year held at Cabinet Division with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.

According to the recommendation, the new 10-day limit replaces the previous 42-day requirement, marking a sharp departure from longstanding procurement protocols.

Under these revised guidelines, the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) is tasked with managing the fast-tracked procurement of refined fuel oil.

This reform is expected to streamline the acquisition of essential energy stocks by narrowing the international bidding window to ensure a more responsive supply chain.
