25,000 examinees absent, 6 expelled on first day of SSC exams

DHAKA, April 21, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 25,408 candidates remained absent across 11 education boards on the first day of this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations today. 

Additionally, six students and one invigilator were expelled for adopting unfair means, according to a report of Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee. 

Among the absentees, 11,890 candidates were in nine general education boards, 11,211 in Madrasah board and 2,307 in technical board. 

Two students were expelled from the nine general boards and four from the Madrasah board. One invigilator was expelled under the Technical Education Board on the first day.

However, the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee stated that the overall situation of this year's examinations has been more satisfactory compared to previous years. 

According to the committee, the Bangla (Compulsory) 1st Paper exam was held under the nine general boards, Quran Majeed and Tajweed under the madrasah board, and Bangla-II under the technical board today.
