DHAKA, April 21, 2026 (BSS) – Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid today said the government has taken all-out measures to ensure timely harvesting of paddy in the haor regions before the influx of water.

“We must complete harvesting before water enters the haors and ensure that no paddy is damaged,” he said while chairing a meeting at the Agriculture Ministry conference room in the capital on the overall progress of paddy harvesting in haor areas.

The minister directed the authorities concerned to complete harvesting on time through maximum caution and coordinated efforts. He said in areas where paddy becomes harvest-ready earlier, harvesters and labourers may be brought from neighbouring regions if necessary.

He also instructed officials to involve local public representatives and volunteers in the harvesting process.

Mentioning that there is adequate supply of fuel for harvesters, the minister assured that there will be no shortage of fuel in the agriculture sector.

Agriculture Secretary Dr Rafiqul E Mohamed and field-level officials of the haor regions and the agriculture department joined the meeting virtually.
