DHAKA, April 21, 2026 (BSS) - The LGRD and Cooperatives Ministry today ordered the establishment of 'inspection rooms' in all Upazila Parishad buildings across the country.

A press release signed by Ziaur Rahman, Deputy Secretary of the Upazila-2 Branch of the ministry, came up with the development.

"On various occasions, ministers, deputy ministers, members of parliament, divisional commissioners, senior officials from different ministries, as well as local administration officials, visit various Upazila Parishads to inspect development activities. During such times, due to the lack of a designated room for conducting official business, the office rooms of the Upazila Parishad Chairman or the Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) are used. This disrupts the official activities of the concerned Upazila Parishad Chairman, UNO, and other officials," said the press release.

Under these circumstances, an inspection room including a washroom, furnished with high-quality furniture, must be designated on the second floor of the old Upazila Parishad complex building, or a new inspection room must be established to facilitate the inspection of various development activities in the upazilas, the press release added.

It further said, for the construction of new Upazila Parishad complex buildings, the DPP (Development Project Proposal) should include provisions for a designated room on the second floor of the complex building, complete with plans and designs, to conduct inspection activities. This is hereby requested as per directive.

It is noteworthy that expenses related to this will be borne from the upazila administration's ADP/revenue budget or from project funds.

Meanwhile, copies of the letter have been sent to all Deputy Commissioners, Upazila Nirbahi Officers and other concerned departments across the country for taking necessary action.
