Murder mystery of Trishal bike rider solved, 3 arrested

DHAKA, Jan 9, 2025 (BSS) - The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has revealed the mystery after nine days of the murder of a bike rider at Trishal of Mymensingh district and arrested three suspects for their involvement in the killing.

The arrestees have been identified as Md. Nazmul Islam, 30, son of Joynal Abedin, hailed from Bailor Palpara (Pannabari) under Trishal, Mymensingh, Abul Kashem alias Sona Mia, 55, son of late Abul Hashem, a resident of Battajor Ujanpara under Bakshiganj in Jamalpur and Abdul Aziz alias Anis, 24, son Abdul Hamid, a resident of the same area.

A team of the Mymensingh district PBI unit arrested the trio from the Battajor area under Bakshiganj Police Station in Jamalpur district yesterday afternoon, said a PBI press release.

On December 12 last, the PBI recovered the body of an unidentified person from the bank of a pond at Hindupalli village under Trishal police station.

Later, the PBI revealed the identity of the deceased through his digital fingerprints.

The deceased identified as Zubayed Ahmed, 31, was son of Samad Talukder, a resident of Palgaon village under the Suair union of Mohanganj Police Station in Netrokona district.

Azharul Islam, elder brother of the deceased, filed a murder case with Trishal Police Station on the same day.

During the investigation, the PBI team was able to identify the persons involved in the murder within just nine days with the help of information technology and eventually arrested them. The PBI personnel also recovered the motorcycle of the deceased.

All the accused were sent to the court on Wednesday, where two of the accused gave confessional statements under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure by mentioning the details of the incident.
