Man gets life-term in arms case in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ, Feb 19, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to life-
term imprisonment under the Arms Act.

Judge of Joint District and Sessions Judge Court Supriya Rahman pronounced 
the verdict at noon in presence of convict Gopal Chandra, son of Haripado 
Chandra, a resident of Daulatpur village under Belkuchi upazila of the 
district, said Hadiuzzaman Sheikh Hadi, assistant public prosecutor of the 
court.

According to the case documents, on October 10, 2018, police conducted a raid 
on the basis of secret information that arms were being bought and sold in 
front of Kadai Silver Delpark and arrested Gopal Chandra while the other 
accused Rejaul Karmi fled away. 

Later, police recovered eight one-shooter guns and 15 rounds of bullets after 
searching his body.

A case was filed under the Arms Act with Sadar Police Station.

After examining evidence, the judge found the convict guilty and handed down 
the verdict.

The court also acquitted Rejaul as the charges against him were not proven.
