Journo AKM Maksud Ahmed passes away

DHAKA, Feb 21, 2025 (BSS) - AKM Maksud Ahmed, editor of the first newspaper published from the Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) named the 'Dainik Giridarpan', died of a stroke on Thursday night. 

He was 82.

Shawkat Akbar Khan, resident physician at Rangamati General Hospital, today said that Maksud Ahmed suffered a stroke at around 9 pm on Thursday and later, breathed his last at Rangamati General Hospital at 9:30 pm.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters and a host of relatives and admires.

AKM Maksud Ahmed had been in the journalism profession for 56 years. He started his career as the Rangamati district correspondent of Dainik Ittefaq and served there until his death. 

He first published the weekly 'Banabhumi' from Rangamati in 1979. Later, he started publishing the 'Dainik Giridarpan' in 1983.
