Man gets life term in Bogura murder case

BOGURA, March 18, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to life 
term imprisonment for killing a woman in Sonatala upazila of the district in 
2020.

The court also fined convict Habib Mondal of Rakhalgachi area of the upazila, 
Taka 20,000, acting public prosecutor (PP) Advocate PM Tariqul Islam Sacchu 
said.

Senior District and Sessions Judge Shahjahan Kabir pronounced the verdict in 
presence of the convict this afternoon.

According to prosecution, Joytara Begum was murdered on the night of January 
17, 2020. Habib was involved in an extramarital affair with the victim Joytara 
Begum. He killed her on the night and fled away.

Police after two days recovered the body.

The victim's elder brother Dulu Bepari filed a murder case. Police later arrested 
Habib Mondal.

Later, the judge after examining evidence found the convict guilty and handed 
down the punishment.
