Rapist of Rangpur teenage girl arrested from Dinajpur

RANGPUR, March 25, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) -13 arrested the accused on charge of forcefully raping a teenage girl of Mithapukur upazila in Rangpur from Khansama upazila in Dinajpur district on Monday afternoon.
 
"The arrested person is Joy Chandra Barman, 26, of village Chithlee Maddhyapara under Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur," said a press release issued here today.

According to the complaint filed by the plaintiff, the accused Joy Chandra Barman established a love affair with the minor victim of the same village by tempting her to marry him.

In this way, for a long time, the accused reamined engaged in illegal activities including physical relations with her without the knowledge of the victim's family.

Later, on November 6, 2024, the accused asked the victim to come to a place called Chithlee Maddhyapara under Mithapukur police station in Rangpur district and forcibly raped her after she came there at 11:00 pm.
 
The victim's father filed a rape case in this incident at Mithapukur police station in Rangpur district.
 
The incident created a sensation in the area and came to the notice of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of RAB-13.
 
On a tip off, an operational team of the CPSC of RAB-13 conducted a raid in the TTC area under Khansama police station of Dinajpur and arrested accused Joy Chandra Barman at 2:10 pm on Monday.
 
The elite force handed the arrested person over to Mithapukur police station in Rangpur, the release added.
