NETRAKONA, April 24, 2025 (BSS) - Boro paddy and rice procurement drive began in haor upazila Mohanganj of the district today amid much enthusiasm during the paddy harvesting season.
 
Md. Abul Hasanat Humayun Kabir, Director General of the Food Department inaugurated the drive as the chief guest at a function held at the upazila LCD Food Warehouse. 
 
The district administration and food department organized the function presided over by Deputy Commissioner Banani Biswas.
 
Later, at 11:30am, a meeting was held with the participation of farmers, mill owners, food department officials and stakeholders at the upazila parishad auditorium.

Director General Md. Abul Hasanat Humayun Kabir emphasized that the government's goal is to ensure fair prices for farmers by directly procuring paddy from them.
 
Mymensingh Division Regional Food Controller Abu Nayem Mohammad Shafiul Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rafiquzzaman, District Food Controller Md. Moetachemur Rahman, Mohanganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jewel Ahmed, local farmers and officials were present at the discussion meeting.
 
For the current Boro season, the district has set a target to procure 13,432 metric tons of paddy at Taka 36 per kg and 61,161 metric tons of rice at Taka 49 per kg in the ten upazilas between April 24 and August 31.
