Accused in Lalmonirhat rape-pornography case held in Ashulia

RANGPUR, April 25, 2025 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the accused on charges of forcibly raping a girl of Lalmonirhat by threatening to upload her obscene pictures on the internet from Ashulia area in Dhaka on Thursday. 

The arrestee has been identified as Md. Rubel, 25, son of Md Moslem Uddin of village Rajpur under Sadar upazila in Lalmonirhat district.

On a tip-off, a joint operational team of RAB-13's CPSC in Rangpur and RAB-4's Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-2 in Savar Camp in a raid arrested the accused from Bhadail area of Ashulia Police Station in Dhaka district at 5:40 pm, a press release said today.

Enhancing intelligence activities, the elite force confirmed the location of the accused.

Later, the arrested accused has been handed over to the Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station for further legal action.

Earlier this month, the accused tactfully recorded obscene pictures of the victim of the same area on his mobile phone. 
 
Later, he forcibly raped her against her will by threatening and intimidating her to spread the picture on the internet.
 
Subsequently, the victim herself filed a rape and pornography case against the accused with the Sadar Police Station of Lalmonirhat district as the plaintiff on April 13, 2025.
 
The incident created a sensation in the area and was widely reported in the print media and came to the attention of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of RAB-13.
