Rangpur Sahitya-Sangskriti Parishad held its 1209th literary meeting

RANGPUR, April 26, 2025 (BSS) - The 1209th literary meeting of the Rangpur Sahitya-Sangskriti Parishad (RSSP) was held on Friday night at its office located in the city's Town Hall premises, calling for nurturing a healthy literary culture.
 
RSSP president and noted educationist Dr Nasima Akhtar presided over the meeting, while literary affairs secretary Afzal Hossain moderated the event.
 
General secretary Mamun Ur Rashid paid tribute to the late founder president of 'Nazrul Charcha Kendra, Rangpur', for the eternal peace of his soul. 

The meeting started with welcome remarks by Mahbub Ara Begum Leena and Dilip Kumar Roy.
 
Later, freedom fighter poet and writer Kali Ranjan Barman, and distinguished writer and educationist Professor Mohammad Shah Alam discussed poetry, poets and writers. 
 
Freedom fighter Sushanta Chandra Khan, Professor Abdus Sobhan, RSSP adviser and writer Advocate Masum Hasan, and its executive member S M Amjad Hossain Sarkar participated in the discussion and recited poems on contemporary issues.

Professor Atahar Ali Khan, Tajul Islam, Afzal Hossain, Anwarul Islam, Momtazur Rahman Babu, Sufi Zahid Hossain, Hasnain Rabbi, Asad Chowdhury, Maruf Hossain Mahabub, Mallika Sharma, Sunil Sarkar, Tapas Mahmud, and Moyna Moni recited self-composed poems.

Niresh Mukherjee, Tarani Kant Adhikari, and Mamun Ur Rashid participated in the poetry recitation.

RSSP vice-president Sunil Sarkar held a constructive discussion on the texts read and poems recited.
 
Later, floral greetings were presented to the RSSP's joint music secretary Mallika Sharma and literary affairs secretary Afzal Hossain on their birthdays, and a commemorative bag and magazine were presented to lifelong member poet Anwarul Islam.

At that time, poet Tapas Mahmud presented his book to the RSSP authority as a gift. 
 
Among others, poets and literary personalities Pushpojeet Roy, Ratan Kumar Sarkar and Mahmuda Chowdhury, were present at the event.
