RANGAMATI, May 14, 2025 (BSS) - A housewife was killed in a lightning strike in Longadu upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Tanjina Akhtar, 20, wife of Mohammad Hridoy, a resident of Gathachhara village under Mainimukh union of the upazila.

Lightning followed by a rainstorm hit Tanjina this afternoon when she was returning home from a nearby beel after finishing her work.

She was immediately rescued and taken to the local hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Langadu Police Station Swarajit Deb confirmed the matter.
