Four shops fined in Chuadanga

CHUADANGA, May 14, 2025 (BSS) - Four shops were fined a total of Tk 70,000 for producing ice cream in an unsanitary environment in the Housepur area under Alamdanga upazila of the district.

A joint team comprising members of the armed forces and the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection conducted the drive.

Assistant Director of the Consumer Rights Protection Directorate, Mohammad Mamunul Hasan, led the operation, while Upazila Sanitary Inspector Md. Nizam Uddin and Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) representative Md. Rafiqul Islam were present.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team carried out the two-hour drive which began at 11 am, monitored the production and marketing processes of food items.

The team imposed the fine under Section 43 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009, for producing and storing ice cream and bakery products in unhygienic conditions.

During the drive, Musa Ice Cream, owned by Suman Ahmed, was fined Tk 20,000; Shapla Super Ice Cream, owned by Miraj Ali, was fined Tk 20,000; Mobin Super Ice Cream, owned by Tofael Ahmed, was fined Tk 20,000; Arju Food, owned by Alim, was fined Tk 10,000.
