Saudi expatriate killed in Madaripur road accident

MADARIPUR, May 14, 2025 (BSS) - A Saudi expatriate was killed when a truck hit a bus near Mollar Bazar along the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in Shibchar upazila of the district in the early hours today.

The deceased was identified as Bablur Rahman, 50, son of the late Mohammad Ali, of Mukundapur area under Jhikargacha upazila in Jashore district.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Shibchar Highway Police Tamal said a bus of 'Saint Martin Paribahan,' traveling from Jashore to Dhaka, was parked on the roadside around 4 am due to an air-conditioning malfunction.

Many of the passengers were standing outside the bus at the time. Suddenly, a Dhaka-bound speeding truck rammed into the parked bus from behind.

Bablur Rahman was critically injured in the incident. He was later taken to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex, where he succumbed to his injuries.

SI Tamal added that the deceased was a Saudi expatriate and was on his way to Dhaka to catch a flight to Saudi Arabia.

Police have seized both vehicles.
