Three get life term in Narail murder case

NARAIL, May 14, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced three people, including a woman to life term imprisonment for killing a man in Lohagara upazila of the district in 2011.

Judge of Additional District and Sessions Judge 1st Court Elina Akhter handed down verdict this afternoon in presence of the convicts.

The court also fined them Taka 20,000 each, in default, to suffer three months more in jail, Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) of the court Advocate Tarikuzzaman Litu said.

The convicted persons are - Jafar Khandaker, son of Sham Khandaker, Akram Molya, son of Alek Molya and Laich Begum alias Laichon, wife of Bahar Uddin of Chardighalia village under Lohagara upazila of the district.

According to prosecution, on April 24, 2011, the convicts hacked their neighbor Musa Khandaker to death over a land dispute. 

The elder brother of the deceased Md. Billal Khandaker filed a murder case with Lohagara Police Station.

The judge after examining witnesses and evidence found the convicts guilty and handed down the punishment.
