Two held with 80 bottles of liquor in Khulna

KHULNA, May 15, 2025 (BSS) - The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) arrested two drug peddlers and seized 80 bottles of foreign and local liquor along with a private car from the Rupsha Toll Plaza area in Khulna last night.

The detainees were identified as Md Abdur Rahman Sharif, 53, and Md Wahab Shikder, 60, the driver of the car.

Md Mizanur Rahman, deputy director of DNC Khulna said, acting on a tip-off, a team from the department with support from local police, intercepted a car traveling from Dhaka at the Toll Plaza area around 9.30pm.

Upon searching the vehicle, the DNC team recovered 80 sealed bottles of liquor and srrested the duo.

During interrogation, the detainees confessed that they occasionally rented a private car from a drug trafficking group in Dhaka and delivered liquor shipments to clients in Khulna. However, they were unable to identify any local accomplices.
 
The arrested were sent to Khulna Jail through the court, the DNC deputy director said, adding that a case was filed with Rupsha police station today.
