KHULNA, May 15, 2025 (BSS) - The divisional rice procurement and monitoring meeting was held today at the conference room of the divisional commissioner here.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Firoz Sarkar presided over the meeting.

It was informed at the meeting that during the 2025 Boro procurement season, paddy and wheat will be purchased directly from farmers, and rice will be collected from authorized and operational rice mill owners.

The procurement price has been fixed at Tk 36 per kg for paddy and Tk 49 per kg for boiled rice. The procurement period for paddy and rice will run from 24 April to 31 August 2025.

In the Khulna division, the procurement targets are set at 45,037 metric tons of paddy and 173,319 metric tons of boiled rice.

Additional divisional commissioner (Development) Abu Sayed Md Monjur Alam, deputy director of the Department of Agricultural Marketing in Khulna Shahinaz Begum, Regional food controller Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury, additional director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Md Rafiqul Islam, additional deputy director of the Department of Agricultural Extension in Jashore Sameron Biswas, and regional information officer of Khulna Regional Information Office Sharmin Akhter Ruma, among others, were present.
