GOPALGANJ, May 15, 2025 (BSS) –Two people, including the driver of a truck, were killed and at least 20 others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Kashiani upazila of the district tonight.

The identities of the deceased and injured are yet be confirmed.

The fatal accident occurred around 9:00 pm in the Dakshin Fukra area of Kashiani, said Kashiani Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khandaker Hafizur Rahman.
 
Following the collision, traffic on both sides of the busy highway came to a standstill for a long time.

Rescue operations were promptly launched by local authorities and volunteers. The injured were rushed to Kashiani Upazila Health Complex and Gopalganj 250-Bed General Hospital for treatment.

The condition of several victims is reported to be critical.
 
Law enforcement and fire service personnel were deployed to the scene to manage the situation and clear the wreckage.
