BGB seizes illegal goods in Sylhet Frontier

SYLHET, May 31, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods worth Taka One Crore 55 lakh and 96 thousand from the Sylhet and Sunamganj border areas this morning..

Lieutenant Colonel Md. Nazmul Haque, commander of the Sylhet BGB-48 Battalion, confirmed the matter to BSS.

He said that acting on a tip-off, multiple special teams conducted drives in Pratappur, Tamabil, and Bisanakandi border and seized a large quantity of Indian Sarees, different types of medicines, Injections, Gel, and wine, as well as cows smuggled from India.

No arrests were made during the raids, as the smugglers fled the scenes sensing the presence of BGB forces.

The process of depositing the seized items with the Customs Office is underway.
