MANIKGANAJ, May 31, 2025 (BSS) - World No Tobacco Day was observed today in Manikganj with due significance, aiming to raise awareness about the consequences of tobacco consumption and encouraging people to quit smoking.

The day began with a vibrant rally that started from the Collectorate building and concluded at the Circuit House with the participation of government officials, NGO representatives and members of the local community.

Following the rally, a discussion was held at the Circuit House, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Manwar Hossein Malla.

The function was addressed among others by Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Khurshid Alam and Manikganj Press Club Convenor Zahangir Alam Biswas.

This year's theme in Bangladesh highlights the deceptive strategies used by tobacco companies and advocates for a tobacco and nicotine -free nation.

Government agencies, non-governmental organizations and concerned individuals united on this occasion to reaffirm their commitment to building a healthier, smoke-free future for all.

World No Tobacco Day, observed globally on May 31, aims to highlight the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and advocate for effective measures to reduce its use.
