Three killed in Sherpur road crash

SHERPUR, June 5, 2025 - Three passengers of a battery-run auto rickshaw were killed in a road accident last night when their vehicle collided with a truck in Mobarakpur Mohalla area under Sherpur Municipality here.

The deceased were identified as Imran Hossain ,18, son of Ilias Hossain and Al Amin Miah ,19, son of Belal Miah - both residents of Joginimura Dakshin Namapara in Sherpur Sadar and Rita Biswas, 24, a resident of Singpara Mohalla in Sherpur city.

According to local sources, the auto rickshaw was struck by a truck in the area around 8:00 pm, leaving Al Amin and Rita dead on spot.

Imran, critically injured, was rushed to Sherpur Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Sherpur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Zubaidul Alam said the bodies will be handed over to their families following autopsy and necessary legal procedures.
 
The law enforcers are trying to apprehend the truck driver, who fled the scene, the OC added.
