CHATTOGRAM, June 5, 2025 (BSS) – Buyers are flocking to the cattle markets in the city as only two days are left for Eid-ul-Azha.

With the permission of Chattogram City Corporation (CCCC) cattle markets were set up at 10 places in the city last week and it will continue till the last moment of Eid-ul-Azha, officials concerned told BSS.

Veterinarians are performing physical test on cattle and other animals to maintain healthy practices in the cattle markets. Animal loaded trucks are entering Chattogram city every day from different parts of the country.

While talking to BSS, the buyers of the cattle markets said despite the availability of sacrificial animals in the markets, prices are higher than last year.

Regarding the higher price of sacrificial animals, sellers said prices of animal foods as well as other expenses including transport costs have increased sharply.

Although the trend of selling is low, they are hoping that sales of animals will increase from next day.

The government has taken adequate security measures for smooth carrying of sacrificial animals in the markets set up at different points in the city.

An official of the CCC said that the number of temporary cattle markets may increase due to availability of open space, while the CCC authority may give approval for setting up two more makeshift cattle markets.

Authorities have taken tight security measures by engaging members of the police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Ansars alongside plainclothes members of law enforcing agencies in and outside of the cattle markets and city entry points.
