Five held with 104-kg ganja in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 27, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in two separate anti-crime operations, arrested five alleged drug peddlers with 104 kilograms of ganja in the district last night.

The arrested were identified as Selim Mian, 28, Yeasin Ali, 25, Israfil Hossain, 22, Arif Hossain, 42 and Muhammad Kafi, 22, RAB sources said this noon.

On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a raid in Gopalhati area under Puthiya upazila and arrested Selim and Yeasin with 100 kilograms of ganja after searching a truck, the RAB sources said.

Another team of the RAB arrested three other alleged drug-peddlers with four kilograms of ganja from Belpukur bypass area under Belpukur Police Station in the district last night.

The arrestees, with the seized contraband goods, were handed over to the police.

Two separate cases were filed with the respective Police Stations in these connections.
