JHENAIDAH, June 27, 2025 (BSS) - A youth was crushed under the wheels of a cargo train at Kaliganj in Jhenaidah early this morning.

The accident occurred at Mobarrakganj Rail Station yard around 5:30 am.

The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan, 26, son of Muktar Hossain, a resident of Kahipur village under Kaliganj municipality.

Local sources said Mehedi was mentally unwell and had been undergoing treatment at Pabna Mental Hospital. He had recently returned home and was killed after being run over by a cargo train.

Mobarrakganj Rail Station Master Arup Biswas said the accident took place while some compartments of a cargo train were being shifted from the station yard to line four.

The incident has been reported to higher authorities. The body has been handed over to the railway police for necessary procedures.
