KHULNA, June 27, 2025 (BSS) – Three youths were killed and one received bullet injuries in separate incidents in Khulna last night.

In Rupsha upazila, three youths received serious bullet injuries around 9pm yesterday during a shooting incident between two rival groups at Sohel’s residence in the Rajapur village under Rupsha upazila in the district.

The dead were identified as Sabbir, 27, and Saddam Hossain, 29. Saddam Hossain is the son of Nur Islam of Sonar Bangla lane under Sobadang police station in the city. Sabbir’s identity could not be known in details. 

Md Ashraful Alam, Officer-in-Charge of Rajapur police camp under Rupsha upazila, said three youths received serious bullet injuries during a gunfight between two rival groups.

They were rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) where the duty doctor declared Sabbir dead. 

Saddan Hossain also died on the way while he was shifting to Dhaka for better treatment, he said, adding that another youth Miraz alias Kaua Miraz, 29, managed to flee the hospital during treatment.

“Both victims were reportedly members of a local gang led by a notorious criminal “Grenade Babu,” he said.
 
A rival group launched a gun attack, leading to a violent shooting, the OC said, adding that two live bullets and two empty shells were recovered from the scene.
 
Police have launched a drive to arrest the attackers, he added.

Meanwhile, Babul Dutta, 50, a sand and land trader, was brutally murdered in the Rajbandh South Para area of Khulna city under Harintana police station around 9 pm Thursday.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Harintana Police Station Khairul Bashar said Babul was returning home by his motorcycle when assailants intercepted him and dragged him into an empty plot where they slit his throat.

Police recovered the body around 10:30 pm and sent it to hospital for autopsy.

OC said the motive behind the killing has remained unclear, adding that legal procedures are underway.
