2 children drown in Pabna

PABNA, June 27, 2025 (BSS) - A tragic incident occurred today when two 
children drowned in the Baral River in Faridpur upazila in the district.

The deceased were identified as Tanni, 11, daughter of Faridpur Municipality 
BNP Joint Convener and former councilor Abu Samar and Jubayer, 8, son of 
local businessman Alamgir Hossain.

The incident took place at around 1:30 PM in the Thana Para Mohalla area of 
Faridpur Municipality of Pabna district. 

According to the police, the two children were sitting on the riverbank in 
front of their home.

Jubayer suddenly fell into the river and Tanni, attempting to save him, also 
fell into the water. 

Realizing what had happened, locals nearby quickly alerted the family and 
began searching for the children. 

After some time, the children were pulled from the river and rushed to the 
Faridpur Upazila Health Complex in critical condition.

Despite the efforts of medical staff, the attending doctor declared both 
children dead upon arrival.

Faridpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hasnat Zaman confirmed the 
tragic deaths.
