Five food shops fined Tk 7 lakh in Kishoreganj

KISHOREGANJ, June 28, 2025 (BSS) – Five food shops were fined Taka 7 lakh for violating the Safe Food Act in different upazilas of the district today.

The Pure Food Court led by Senior Judicial Magistrate Ariful Islam conducted the drives and fined the five food shops Taka 7 lakh  in the district for violating food safety regulations.

The district Food Safety office sources said Bhojon Restaurant in Katiadi Bus stand area of the district was fined Taka 2 lakh for preparing food in unhygienic conditions and storing rotten sweets, Zakir Food Products in Kuliarchar upazila was fined Taka 1 lakh for producing food in unhygienic conditions and displaying false production date on the packaging, Chandni Bakery in Uttar Bhairabpur area of Bhairab upazila was fined Taka 1 lakh for storing expired biscuits, Bushra Food and Beverage in the same area was fined Taka 1 lakh for producing food products without registration, and Malek Food Products in Ghorakanda area of the same upazila was fined maximum Tk 2 lakh for producing food in unhygienic conditions and without registration. 

During the drive, a large amount of expired food products were seized and destroyed in the bakery shops and restaurants. 

The district's Food Safety officer Md. Ashraful Islam Talukder and District Sanitary Inspector Shankar Chandra Pal were present during the drives.
