Forestland recovered in joint operation in Gazipur

DHAKA, June 28, 2025 (BSS) - Under the initiative of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, a joint operation was carried out today in Gazipur Sadar Upazila, recovering approximately 6.90 acres of illegally occupied forestland. 

The operation took place in the Bokran Monipur area of Monipur Beat under the Rajendrapur Range of Dhaka Forest Division, where 205 newly built illegal structures were demolished, said a press release here.
 
The estimated market value of the recovered forestland is around Taka 35 crore.

The operation was jointly conducted by the Gazipur Sadar Upazila Administration, Bangladesh Army, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Dhaka Forest Division and the Police.

According to the ministry, such joint drives will continue in the future as part of the government's 'zero tolerance' policy against illegal occupation of forestland and in efforts to protect forests, wildlife and biodiversity.
