Fruit trader electrocuted in Patuakhali

PATUAKHALI, June 29, 2025 (BSS) - A fruit trader was electrocuted at Hetalia Bandhghat Bazar in Sadar upazila here this morning.

The deceased was identified as Sohrab Gazi, 45, son of Monshef Gazi, a resident of Barunbaria village in Morichbunia union of the upazila.

Police and eyewitnesses said another fruit trader, Shahjahan Khan, suffered an electric shock around 7:30am after he touched a van parked near his shop. Seeing him in distress, Sohrab Gazi rushed to rescue him and got electrocuted.

Sohrab Gazi was brought to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. 

Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station Imtiaz Ahamed confirmed the matter.
