JHENAIDAH, July 1, 2025 (BSS) - A freedom fighter was killed and his wife injured in a road accident in the Asannagar area under Shailkupa upazila of the district last night.
The deceased was identified as Golam Barik Mandol, 76, a resident of Krishnapur village under Umedpur union in the upazila.
The accident occurred on the Jhenaidah-Kushtia highway around 9:30pm when a truck hit the motorcycle they were riding, killing Barik Mandol on the spot and injuring his wife, said Mrityunjoy Biswas, Officer-in-Charge of Jhenaidah Arappur Highway Police Station.
The injured woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
