RAJSHAHI, July 1, 2025 (BSS) - Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) celebrated its 33rd founding anniversary today with due festivity and enthusiasm.
The event included a colorful rally, a flag-raising ceremony, cake-cutting and a discussion.
The RMP was established on this day in 1992 with four police stations. Over time, the number of stations has increased to 12, while its jurisdiction has expanded from 92 to 472 square kilometres to meet growing demands.
As part of the celebration, RMP family members and invited guests brought out a colourful rally from the RMP Headquarters, which paraded through nearby roads before ending at the discussion venue.
Commissioner of Rajshahi Division Khondoker Azim Ahmed attended the discussion as the chief guest, while Bangladesh Police Academy (BPA) Principal Barrister Zillur Rahman was present as the special guest. RMP Commissioner Muhammad Abu Sufian presided over the event.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police (Rajshahi Range) Dr Muhammad Shahjahan, DIG (Prisons) of Rajshahi Division Kamal Hossain, Divisional Director of Health Dr Habibur Rahman, Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Afia Akhter, and Superintendent of Police Farzana Islam also spoke on the occasion.
RMP Commissioner Abu Sufian said they are working relentlessly to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
Earlier in the day, the Divisional Commissioner, BPA Principal, and RMP Commissioner inaugurated the daylong celebration by releasing pigeons, festoons, and balloons.
