Vessel operation on 16 routes suspended due to inclement weather in Bhola

BHOLA, July 1, 2025 (BSS) – Vessel operation on 16 internal routes of the district -- Char Fashion-Dhaka, Monpura-Dhaka and Bhola-Lakshipur -- in Bhola have been suspended as seaports hoist cautionary signal No. 3 due to adverse weather conditions.

In the last 24 hours, moderate to heavy rainfall has continued in various upazilas of coastal district due to the influence of monsoon winds. 

In this situation, sea ports have been asked to display warning signal number three. 

Fishing trawlers have been asked to take safe shelter. Around 5.1 millimeters of rainfall has been recorded in the district in the last 24 hours, said Bhola Meteorological Department official Md. Moniruzzaman. 

Bhola Port Officer Riyad Hossain told BSS that no internal waterways will be allowed to operate in the district until the weather conditions normalize. 

In addition, the authorities concerned have said that there is a risk that the  gangway of Bhola's Elisha Ferry Ghat may sink due to high tide. Meanwhile, the low-lying areas outside the Beri Dam are being flooded due to the increase in water level during the tide. 

The Meteorological office sources said such situation may continue for the next 2 to 3 days.
