Fake doctor jailed in Habiganj

HABIGANJ, July 1, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court today sentenced a fake doctor, Abdur Rahman, to one month in jail and fined him Taka 50,000 for unlawfully using the title 'Doctor' before his name and prescribing medicines to patients despite being a physiotherapist. 

Executive Magistrate Ranjit Chandra Das conducted the drive at Muktijoddha Haider Ali Hospital in the Rajnagar area of the district town this afternoon and handed down the punishment to Abdur Rahman.

Sharif Md Sanjid, Medical Officer at the Habiganj Civil Surgeon's Office, said Abdur Rahman, though a physiotherapist by training, had long been prescribing medicine and introducing himself as 'Professor Dr Abdur Rahman.'

Upon receiving complaints, the district administration and the health department jointly conducted the drive. As the allegations were found to be true, the mobile court sentenced him one month of imprisonment and fined him Taka 50,000.
