Drug trader held with Yaba tablets in Khulna

KHULNA, July 1, 2025 (BSS) - Police on Tuesday arrested a drug dealer with 19,000 contrabanned Yaba tablets from zero point area under Harintana police station in the city.

The arrested person is identified as Md Omar Faruq, son of Md Moshiur Rahman, a resident of Pushpokati village in Debhata upazila under Satkhira district. 

Confirming the arrest, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Harintana Police Station, Sheikh Khairul Bashar, said that the police had received information that a large consignment of drugs from Satkhira was en-route to Dhaka via Khulna.

Later, a checkpoint was set up in the area at noon today, the OC said adding that as police approached, the suspect attempted to disembark from an Imad Paribahan bus. 

Police held the drug peddler after stopping him and seized 19,000 pieces of Yaba tablets after searching his bag, he said.

A case was filed with the Harintana police station in this connection.
