Motorcyclist dies in Panchagarh road crash

PANCHAGARH, July 2, 2025 (BSS) - A motorcyclist was killed and another injured when a covered van hit their motorbike in Jhaljhali Dighi area under Boda upazila of the district this afternoon.

The deceased was Dipu Chandra Barman, 18, son of Budharu Barman, a resident of Tepukuria Gunjanpara village under Benghari Bongram union of the upazila.

The accident took place on the Maidandighi-Tepukuria road when a covered van of Square Pharmaceutical hit a motorcycle from the opposite direction, leaving its two riders injured on the spot, said Azim Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Boda Police Station.

The injured were taken to Boda Upazila Health Complex, he said, adding: "Of the wounded, Dipu succumbed to his injuries at Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital while he was shifted here as his condition deteriorated." 

Police seized the covered van and arrested its driver Abdus Salam, 42, the OC added.
